Here is a copy of the letter SIM USA sent to all of our supporters. We thought you might appreciate reading it.
March 2011
To the Prayer and Financial Support Team
of Eldon & Becky Porter
We give thanks to God and to you for standing behind Eldon and Becky in their ministries with SIM. Your prayers and financial support have made a huge difference for the Kingdom of God.
I want to take this opportunity to let you know that Eldon and Becky will be going on Leave of Absence from SIM the end of March and explain how this change will affect you who have faithfully supported them.
Eldon and Becky first went to Bolivia in July of 1984 and served there for over twenty years. September 2005 until May 2009, Eldon served as SIM’s Deputy International Director for North and South America. During this time Eldon and Becky had the privilege of seeing a bigger picture of what God is doing worldwide. God grew in them a passion for seeing traditional and majority world missions work together to more effectively reach the world. Since June 2009 the Porters have been on loan to CrossGlobal Link and COMIBAM. Their ministry with these two groups will not change. The only change is that they will now be sent from their supporting church in Racine, Wisconsin, similar to how the Antioch church sent Paul and Barnabas in Acts 13, before there were mission agencies. Calvary Memorial Church sent Eldon’s Mom to Nigeria around 1945 and has supported Eldon and Becky since they joined SIM - so they have a long history with the Porter family! The Porters will be communicating more details with you.
You will no longer need to send support and ministry gifts to SIM for the Porters effective March 1. Recurring electronic check and credit card gifts will be stopped after February 28, 2011. If you send a final gift in March 2011, it will be used for their final ministry expenses.
Thank you so much for the part you have played in the ministry of Eldon and Becky through your faithful prayers and financial support. Please join us in praying for God's continued blessing on them.
Together for God’s glory,
